Access Token Protection: Securing Your Public URLs
· Features
Protect your overlay and chat reader URLs with access tokens to prevent unauthorized viewing.
Your overlay URL is public by design—it needs to be accessible from your streaming software. But that doesn't mean anyone should be able to access it.
Access token protection adds a security layer to your public URLs. When enabled, the overlay and chat reader require a token parameter to load. Without the correct token, the page returns an error.
This prevents unauthorized viewers from watching your overlay page directly, which could reveal your sponsor lineup, rotation settings, or other information you'd rather keep private.
The token is generated automatically and included in the URL you copy from your dashboard. You don't need to remember or manage it manually. If you suspect a token has been compromised, you can regenerate it.
For streamers who share their overlay URL in public OBS setup guides or tutorials, token protection ensures that someone can't use your URL to replicate your setup or access your real-time overlay feed.
