Scene transitions are the visual bridges between different parts of your stream: switching from your starting soon screen to gameplay, cutting to a just chatting layout, or transitioning to a break screen. Default cut and fade transitions work, but custom animated transitions give your stream a polished, broadcast-quality feel.
Stinger transitions are the most popular type among professional streamers. These are short animated video clips that play during scene switches, covering the screen momentarily while the underlying scene changes. You can commission custom stinger transitions from motion designers or create simple ones yourself using tools like Adobe After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or even Canva's video editor.
In OBS, set up stinger transitions by going to Scene Transitions, clicking the plus icon, and selecting Stinger.
